Mesa County Workforce Center's Disability Program Navigators

Disability Program Navigators assist individuals with disabilities in accessing the services and support needed to obtain and maintain employment.


Disability Program Navigation is an additional service to the CFI, provided by the Mesa County Workforce Center, located at 2897 North Avenue [map] in Grand Junction. To access other services at the Workforce Center, including Social Security Benefits Planning, call (970) 248-0871.


New Horizon Vocational Center

Learn about our New Horizon Vocational Center - it is a training program for people of all ages, all disabilities, held at Center for Independence. It is foremost a community of people who work together toward a common goal of gaining work skills.

NHVC Program Hours of Operation: Monday & Tuesday, 10:00 AM ~ 3:00 PM

Job Development and Placement

If you want to find a job, call for an appointment and we will meet with you to discuss your needs.

  • Further vocational training for employment success

  • Hygiene and grooming

  • Proper professional attire

  • The proper way to complete an application

  • Cover letters

  • Resumes

  • Interview skills

We will assist you to develop a comfort level with the interviewing process, (including questions about salary, questions about company benefits, whether or not to disclose a disability, how to respond to questions asked about an obvious disability, how to respond to personal questions, etc).

Asking for the Job!

We'll assist you with

  • Completing a follow-up thank you letter

  • Checking back with the interviewer regarding the position

  • Following up about the job without appearing "pushy"

Job Coaching

If a consumer is placed in community-based employment, but is having difficulty in the transition, a job coach may be requested by the consumer. The time scheduled is at the convenience of the consumer and the employer.
