CFI is the only State Certified Independent Living center on the Western Slope of Colorado.  We have been assisting people with disabilities since 1982, and are currently celebrating our 25th anniversary. 

Our dedicated staff strives to fulfill our mission to “To positively affect attitudes and opportunities within the community through direct services, training, advocacy, and community education to encourage people with significant disabilities to live "independently” by relying on a combination of funding sources, including Federal and state-appropriated funds, as well as generous grants and donations from private foundations, businesses and individuals.

Our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is seeking a qualified Deaf / Hard-of-Hearing Services Coordinator.  The ideal candidate will not only be fluent in and certified to teach American Sign Language [ASL], but also embrace the challenge to expand the Deaf culture in our area, which will include:

• Finding and/or training qualified sign language interpreters

• Assist Clients in the purchase of hearing aids and how to obtain funding if needed

• Showcase and educate on the proper use of the latest telecommunications equipment

• Locating educational programs for deaf or hard-of-hearing children and adults

• Referrals to various state agencies and programs, such as the State Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Relay Colorado, and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program

• How to apply for housing, food and healthcare assistance

• Information about upcoming events and workshops sponsored by CFI or other organizations
